A yeti from another world who had a role to play in the war against the espers. Umaro lives discreetly in the depths of a cave in the mountains, close to the mines found north of Narshe. He can understand human speech, and can even formulate some words of his own. Although he has quite the temper, he does have a softer side that shows in his love for bone carving. The club Umaro carved out of behemoth bone can be said to be his most beloved and treasured possession.

Quotes[]

Background Story[]

5★ A yeti from another world who had a role to play in the war against the espers.
6★ A yeti from another world who had a role to play in the war against the espers. Ever since the Mines of Narshe shut down due to an accident, Umaro has been living there happily practicing his pastime of carving bones. When Celes and her friends arrive to take the magicite Umaro had used as the eye of one of his bone carvings, the yeti attacks them for ruining his masterpiece. His fury turns into a violent rampage, tackling everything in sight with incredible force. Seeing this as an opportunity to recruit a powerful ally, Mog asserts himself as the yeti's boss and orders him to join the party.
7★ A yeti from another world who had a role to play in the war against the espers. Under Mog's orders, Umaro joins Celes and her friends in their fight against Kefka. He uses his superhuman strength to do anything from mowing down full-grown trees, to pulverizing things with his fists, or using his gigantic body as a battering ram of sorts. At times he can even conjure snowstorms out of nowhere, when he's not doing more peculiar things such as throwing his own teammates at the enemy.

Notes[]

Gameplay

  • Takes added damage boost from Beast Killer resources.
  • Umaro is placed under permanent Berserk status every turn and will initiate attacks at his own will.

Default Attack Changes

  • The passive ability You Try Stop Me, You Fly! permanently changes his default attack upon reaching the prerequisite unit level. This will override the unit from using a standard normal attack.

Trivia

  • Umaro is one of the two secret characters that can be obtained in Final Fantasy VI.
  • He is the first true Berserker in the series due to his gameplay mechanics and his inability to be controlled by the player in battle. His attack behaviors will only change when a specific type of accessory is equipped. His STMR, Blizzard Orb, allows his attacks to change as a result.
  • Umaro is the only unit in the game to have no usable active abilities due to his permanent Berserk status.
