The outer shells have developed to be hard as armor in these relatives to the vicious belmodar. When one finds a likely victim, it burrows into the ground until it arrives at the feet of its prey--then leaps out to attack. If you spot a horn or spike protruding from the ground, you might try to fight back in time, but they can be hard to detect, due to this monster's tendency to disguise itself among the plants and rocks. Its burrowing loosens foundations and has a devastating effect on crops, so it is key to discover these beasts and dispose of them as quickly as possible.
