A man who appears in the tales of a world where the gods toy with humanity's fate. Sazh worked as a pilot of passenger ships in Cocoon, the floating continent ruled by servants of the gods known as the fal'Cie. However, mysterious circumstances led him to board the same train, full of unjustly exiled civilians, as did Lightning, and he came to join her despite his lack of battle experience. Sazh's cheery, joking manner could cause others to misapprehend him as unserious, but in fact he had a mature outlook on life and could be counted on as a provider of wisdom. His constant companion was a chocobo chick.
