Overview

Global Exclusive - Halloween Event

This is a global exclusive event for the Halloween. King Mog will exchange various rewards for your candy corn within the event period.

From the Vortex, plough through waves of undead to obtain candy corn. Complete "Castle of the Dead" stages to unlock the "Pumpkin Rider Strikes" stage of the same difficulty.

Story

As dark clouds gather in the sky, candles are lit and pumpkins are carved... The long awaited Halloween season is here.

King Mog loves Halloween, and this year he has decided to hold a contest to see who could present him with the most delicious candy corn, the winner of which would be generously rewarded.

However, the Pumpking Reaper has seen this as the perfect opportunity to strike, and has gathered his undead friends to steal all the candies from the people.

Can Rain and his friends put a stop to these troublemakers before they ruin Halloween?

Additional Campaign

Two additional campaigns are now running throughout the event period. See their Facebook page for more detail: Battle Against the Pumpkins, and Spooktacular Challenge.

In Battle Against the Pumpkins, players need to run any of the Halloween dungeons: Castle of the Dead or The Pumpkin Rider Strikes. All players will receive rewards depending on the number of dungeon completion:

• 5 Metal Gigantuars
• 1 set of Megacite
• 60 Energy
• 200 Lapis
• 1 Rare Summon Ticket

In Spooktacular Challenge, players need to share or retweet the official announcement of the Halloween Event on Facebook or Twitter within the event period. All players will receive rewards based on the posts' number of Facebook shares and retweets:

• 5 Metal Cactuars
• 1 Star Quartz
• 1 Set of Megacites
• 1 Rare Summon Ticket

Exclusive ability materias

The ability materias are a great and affordable way to fill out the slots of all Halloween exclusive units. But if you don't obtain any of the unit, they would have no use since you can't get them on any other time. Even if they do come back next year, you will most likely have better units or materia to fill them in. Collectors might still want to purchase each one regardless.

If you have leftover candy corns, spend them on 6-star awakening materials as they will be useful when more and more units become capable to be awakened to 6-star. Metal Gigantuar are also a good way to level your future unit but they require a lot of inventory slots to keep.

Guide

Castle of the Dead

• The dungeon has high amount of rounds with up to 6 monsters spawning on each round, AoE attack is recommended.
• Primevil, Bone Dragon, and Mahadeva can be instantly killed with either Raise, Revive or a Phoenix Down.
• Most enemies are weak to fire. Use fire elemental magic or equip fire elemental weapon like Chirijiraden.
• Tellah and Terra are recommended because they carry fire elemental magic and Raise.
• Conserve MP by using Fira instead of Firaga. Deploy 4-5 Mages (or fighters can equip Fire Rod or Fira Materia) and make Elemental Chain.
• Pumpkin Kid can randomly replace the last boss of the dungeon.

The Pumpkin Rider Strikes

• Once you complete "Castle of the Dead", the corresponding difficulty of "Pumpkin Rider Strikes" will be unlocked.
• It's only a single boss fight and they drop more candy corns compared to "Castle of the Dead".
• Pumpkin Rider Strikes ADV has the second highest candy corn at just over 83−86 per energy.
• Using Survivor's Flask will extend death declaration's doom counter by 3 turns.
• Use Unicorn Horn or Esuna if your character gets paralyzed.

Tips

• Use Cheer to increase ATK/DEF, and use Barrage for multiple chain attack.
• Lightning's Crushing Blow with fire and/or light based weapon will make the fight a lot easier.
• If used on the first turn, Kain's Jump abilities will dodge the Death Declaration.
• You can get the Plant Killer ability from the Mystic Woods - Exploration.
• Because he has two races Plant Killer and Demon Killer only increase 25% damage, see: Mechanics.

Tips

• Lapis revive cannot be used on this fight.
• Bring a physical team and use non-elemental weapons. Use Cheer to boost your team's attack.
• Use Imperil to reduce the elemental resistance if your units have elemental attacks.
• If the battle lasts more than 3 turns, preemptively use Survivor's Flasks on the second turn to reduce the chance of a unit being paralyzed later on or having your healer needing to cure/heal that same turn.
• Pumpking Reaper will not resist the first type of break on the first turn, unless it's MAG, in which he's immune. Full Break will trigger ATK break first.
• Equip Jeweled Ring and Ribbon to prevent paralysis; equip Paralyna and bring Unicorn Horns to heal paralysis.
• Take two healers with Curaga, and Esuna or Paralyna.
• Because he has two races Plant Killer and Demon Killer only increase 25% damage, see: Mechanics.
• Pumpking Reaper Arrives PRO has the highest candy corn at 107.5−112.5 per energy.
